Kesemy Design Studio
(2010–2026)

By Kesem Yahav

From 2010 to 2026, I ran Kesemy Design, an independent ceramic design studio in Amsterdam where I brought together design, craftsmanship, education, and creative entrepreneurship.

As the founder and designer, I was responsible for every aspect of the studio, from developing collections and creating handmade ceramic pieces to managing production, exhibitions, retail partnerships, workshops, and the day-to-day operations of the business.

Working with slip casting, hand building, and wheel throwing, I designed and produced contemporary ceramic collections that were exhibited internationally and represented by selected shops and galleries across Europe.

Every piece was handmade in my studio, allowing me to be involved in every stage of the creative process, from the first sketch to the finished object.

Alongside my design practice, the studio became a creative space for learning and connection. I designed and facilitated hundreds of ceramic workshops, team-building events, and community projects, welcoming individuals, creative professionals, organisations, and companies into the studio to explore clay through making.

Running Kesemy Design gave me extensive experience in creative entrepreneurship, project management, workshop design, client collaboration, production planning, exhibition coordination, teaching, and building a sustainable independent creative practice.

Although the studio has now evolved into a new chapter of my work, its values continue to shape everything I do: curiosity, craftsmanship, creativity, and supporting people through meaningful creative experiences.
